Baby Storytime Compilation

The busier I get at work the less time I spend prepping for Baby Storytime.  At first it really stressed me out, but I have found that one thing I can truly let go of is themes for Baby Storytime.  I have never worried about the song and rhymes "matching" but I had worked to have my read aloud and shared reading "match".  But as I have presented baby storytime without a theme out of necessity I have found storytime is just as complete and fulfilling without the worry of a theme.   So here's what we've been singing and reading the month or so!

Songs/Rhymes/Bounces

Hello Song
(tune: Here We Go Round...)

This is the way we clap hello,
Clap hello, clap hello
This is way we clap hello
Hello, hello, hello!

This is the way we tap hello...
This is the way we jump hello...

Good Morning To You
(tune: Happy Birthday)

Good morning to _________
Good morning to _________
Good morning dear ___________
It's nice to see you!

Little Bear
Little Bear in the tree
Sitting oh, so still.
Won't you come out?
Yes, he will!
He looks to the left
He looks to the right
He looks straight ahead
Then he pops out of sight!

There was a Little Duck
(tune: Wheels on the Bus)

There was a little duck that went quack, quack, quack
Quack, quack, quack
Quack, quack, quack
There was a little duck that went quack, quack, quack
All day long!

I use my puppets and do 4-5 verses
Frog
Mouse
Cat
Dog
Pig
Bunny

Baby Hokey Pokey
You put your arms up
You put your arms down
You put your arms up and you wave them all around
You tickle, tickle, tickle
And wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
That's what it's all about!

You put your feet up...
You put your baby up...

Tiny Little Babies
(tune: Shortenin' Bread)

Tiny little babies love bouncin' bouncin'
Tiny little babies love bouncin', yeah
Tiny little babies love bouncin', bouncin'
Tiny little babies love bouncin' so
Bounce to the left, bounce to the right
Hug that baby nice and tight!

We sing 3-4 traditional songs/nursery rhymes

Pat-a-cake
Itsy Bitsy Spider
I'm a Little Teapot
Where is Thumbkin? (thumb, pointer, pinky)
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
Three Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed
Hey Diddle Diddle
Humpty Dumpty
Jack and Jill
Hickory Dickory Dock
Pease Porridge Hot

A few springtime songs thrown in the mix

The Rain is Falling Down
The rain is falling down.  Splash!
The rain is falling down.  Splash!
Pitter patter, pitter patter
The rain is falling down. Splash!

Plip, Plip, Plop!
(tune: Jingle Bells)
We use the jingle bells make rain sounds!)

Plip, plip, plop!

So they'll bloom in May!
