Back to Storytime (Week 2)

I decided that storytimes for the first month or so would just be kind of "random" as we all get back into the swing of things.

Welcome Song

Hello Song

Hello, hello! Can you clap your hands?
Hello, hello! Can you clap your hands?
Can you reach up high?
Can you bend down low?
Can you turn around?
Can you say hello?

(repeat with "stomp your feet")

Fingerplay

Put Your Hands Up High
(tune: Do your ears hand low?)

Put your hands up high
Put your hands down low
Put your hands in the middle
And wiggle them so.
Put your elbows in front
Put your elbows in back
Put your elbows to the side
And quack, quack, quack!

Song

If You're Happy and You Know It

My Hands

My hands upon my head I'll place
Upon my shoulders, on my face
At my waist and by my side
And then behind me they will hide
Then I will raise them way up high
And let my fingers fly, fly, fly
Then clap, clap, clap
And 1, 2, 3
Let's sit down quietly.

Goodbye Song

My hands say goodbye with a clap, clap, clap!
Our feet say goodbye with a tap, tap, tap!
Clap, clap, clap! Tap, tap, tap!
We roll our arms and say...
"Goodbye!"

First In-Person Storytime (In Over 2 Years!)

Storytime is back at the library after more than TWO years in hiatus!  It's been so good to back!!

I did three storytimes this week.  I'll do three each week until we get other staff trained.

Welcome Song
I tried out two different welcome songs:

Hello, Hello  (Music with Nancy)
Hello, hello, hello what do you know?
Hello, hello, hello what do you know?
Do you know where your head is?  Head!

Hello, hello, hello what do you know?
Hello, hello, hello what do you know?
Do your know where your shoulders are? Shoulders!
Do you know where your head is? Head!

Continue adding one body part...

Hello, hello, hello what do you know?
Hello, hello, hello what do you know?
Do your know where your toes are? Toes!
Do you know where your knees are? Knees!
Do you know where your tummy is? Tummy!
Do your know where your hands are? Hands!
Do you know where your shoulders are? Shoulders!
Do you know where your head is? Head!

Hello, hello, hello what do you know?
Hello, hello, hello what do you know?

Hello, Hello
Hello, hello, can you clap your hands?
(clap, clap, clap)
-Repeat-

Can you reach up high?
Can you bend down low?
Can you turn around?
Can you say Hello? (Hello!)

Hello, hello, can you stomp your feet?
(stomp, stomp, stomp)
-Repeat-

Can you reach up high?
Can you bend down low?
Can you turn around?
Can you say Hello? (Hello!)

Fingerplay

Let's get the Rhythm (from Jbrary)
(I like this one because you can do as few or as many verses as you want)

Let’s get the rhythm of our knees
Let's get the rhythm of our knees
Let's get the rhythm of our knees, if you please
Let's get the rhythm of our knees.

Hooray for Fish!

Flannel Board

On Saturday I got my wish
When I found a tank for fish.

But an empty tank is not much fun,
So I bought an orange fish and now I have 1.

I have a fish, but one won't do
So I bought a yellow one and now I have 2.

I have 2 fish swimming happily
But I bought a blue one and now I have 3.

I have 3 fish, but I want more!
So I bought a red (or purple) one and now I have 4

I have 4 fish that jump and dive
But I bought a green one and now I have 5.

A tank full of fish is lots of fun,
But the cat just saw them, so I'd better run! (and save my fish!)
