Magazines are a wonderful way to engage reluctant readers. Magazines are colorful with lots of illustrations and photographs! Articles and stories are short and each issue has many articles to choose from. This helps children with feeling of being overwhelmed with reading "a whole book". Children are naturally drawn to non-fiction and many magazines explore the world, animals, sports, and real life adventures. Magazines can spark children's interests. When reading is enjoyed and no longer viewed as a chore or an assignment children begin to become life-long readers.
Stop by the library and check-out some great magazines and engage children in reading!
