Baby Storytime--November 7

First baby storytime of November!  Several new moms/grandmas came with their babies. This is one advantage of a drop-in program--as families learn about the program they can start coming right away and don't have to wait for the next session to start.

Bounces/Songs/Rhymes

Hands are Clapping
(tune: London Bridges)
Hands are clapping
Clap, clap, clap
Clap, clap, clap
Clap, clap, clap
Hands are clapping
Clap, clap, clap
Hands are clapping!

Toes are tapping; Tap, tap, tap...
Eyes are hiding; Peek-a-boo!...

Hello Song
(tune: Good Night Ladies)

Hello _____________
Hello _____________
Hello _____________
We're glad you're here today!
(since our group has been so large I have three adults introduce themselves and their babies, then we sing one line for each baby)

Little Bear
Little Bear in a tree
Sitting oh so still
Won't you come out?
Yes, he will!
He looks to the left,
He looks to the right,
He looks straight ahead
Then he pops out of sight.

It's taken several months, but now the babies are anticipating the bear popping out and I've started to get a lot of smiles from them!

Play and Learn

I introduced a new toy today that the children loved--balls and ramp.  The balls are weighted so they don't go too fast.  The one-year olds loved to put the ball in the tube and then grab it right away when it started down the ramp.  The only downside to this toy is that it's not quite as sturdy as I'd hoped--babies couldn't put any weight on it; an adult needed to hold the structure to keep it up.  It will definitely be a toy I bring out again!
