Five Green and Speckled Frogs
5 green and speckled frogs,
Sitting on a speckled log
Eating the most delicious bugs,
Yum! Yum!
1 jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Now there are 4 green speckled frogs
Glub! Glub!
Continue counting down to "now there are no green speckled frogs)
I Can Walk on Two Feet
I can walk on two feet, on two feet, on two feet,
I can walk on two feet, all day long.
Tap
March
Run
Stomp
Jump (like a frog!)
Hop on one foot
I can walk on two feet, on two feet, on two feet,
I can walk on two feet, all day long!
Fly Away--with fold-able frog finger puppet
(from Ladybug Magazine; Apr2006, Vol. 16 Issue 8, p37; by Katie Hesterman; art by Jane Dippold)
Swarming, buzzing near the lake,
Foolish fly made one mistake,
Flew too close above the water.
Something pink and sticky caught her,
Snapped her up in one quick pull.
Fly is gone, but frog is full.
Nursery Rhyme
Tiny Tim
I had a little turtle,
His name is Tiny Tim
I put him in the bathtub,
To see if he could swim.
He drank up all the water.
He gobbled up the soap.
And when he tried to talk
He had a bubble in his throat.
What other animal could we put in the bath?
Answers included: Elephant, fish, horse, giraffe, and alligator!
Enrichment Activities
I tried a more complicated craft on Wednesday...that we didn't end up doing on Thursday. I always want the crafts to be something for the children to do--mostly on their own. But the frog craft ended up needing a lot of adult help, so we did some writing/coloring on Thursday instead.
